Spicy Dhal Dip

What you need

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 cup yellow or red lentils, rinsed
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • ¼-½ teaspoon chilli powder
  • 2 cups water
  • 125g PHILADELPHIA Block Light Cream Cheese
  • Coriander or mint, for garnish
  • Pita toasts and pappadums, for serving
  • Carrot sticks, for serving

How to make it

1. HEAT the oil in a saucepan and sauté the onion for 3 minutes. Add the garlic, lentils, spices and water and simmer for 20-30 minutes or until lentils are tender.
2. STIR through the PHILLY until smooth then spoon into a serving bowl. Garnish with herbs and serve warm or chilled with pita toasts, pappadums and carrot sticks.
